Short for web log, a blog is a simple type of website in which text and pictures can be added easily by an owner. Perchance it is because of how easy it is to work a blog (as opposed to the complexities of website construction as seen with notepad and other programs) that explains why blogs are very populous, with an estimated 12 million existing in the United States.1 Not only numerous, blogs have also garnered attention from respectable institutions: “blogs have been parlayed into book deals, huge salaries, and delightful public scandals.”2

Given the technological boom that the United States and other countries are reaping the benefit of, with more and more entities migrating their services to the World Wide Web it only makes sense that the population of blogs shall grow; this shall inevitably lead to the growth of blogs of many types, and since so many are based off of the opinions of the owners, it is not surprising that a growing number of blogs are politically-centered. But this is not a good development as shall be seen with examples past and present and ones to feasibly come.
