Introduction
Haiti is one of the most beautiful yet poorest countries in the world. It has long suffered political, social, and economic instability. With very few formal jobs available, the Haitian people have no choice but to support their families through subsistence farming. 1 However, this is not sufficient and much of the population is still living under poverty. My mission for this project is to propose an ecommerce website that would allow Haitian beach resorts to expand by promoting their services globally, creating more jobs, and thus saving the people of Haiti from poverty.
There are many beach resorts in Haiti, such as the Kaliko Beach Club, Auberge Au Picolet, Hotel Montana, and Cormier Plage. However, only a handful of them have websites. From the few that I was able to find, only the Kaliko Beach Club company website looks nice and professional. It is very well-designed, but it does not provide any means for customer interaction. I feel that if more resorts could create professional ecommerce websites that allow for more interactivity, they would be more successful.
