Kenneth Lane Thompson

Kenneth Lane Thompson is a successful pioneer in Computer Science. Thompson was born on February 4, 1983 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He used a PDP-7 machine to recreate his video game, Space Travel. Using this machine, he developed the Unix operating system and worked on the system programming language, B, which was inspired by Dennis Ritchie's C. Other projects he worked on was a chess playing program as well as working with Rob Pike to develop UTF-8 encoding. Unfortunately, he passed away on April 9, 2019 at the age of seventy-eight years old.
