This is a general workshop intended for candidates for the MFA degree in poetry and for others who are seeking a community in which to write and think about poetry at a high level of achievement. Emphasis will be on producing new work and you may be asked to write in response to exercises or assignments.

During the month of September you will also complete an “intensive writing week” in which you will write 3-4 hours per day for five days, producing at least ten typed pages of raw material. The link at left will take you to the details.

GRADING:

50% final manuscript; 25% intensive writing week; 25% participation in workshop & small groups. Please note that you cannot participate if you are absent, so excessive absences will diminish your grade. Let me know when you must miss class.  No late work accepted.
