Overall Reasoning: Both site listed below are articles that give a list of tips. The first one focuses on color, while the second on design. I've used articles like these before and I find them to be very useful. They list the information in a straightforward and brief way. It's a good place to get started and acquaint yourself with the basics so you can more on to more complex elements. Both sites are well-organized and indicate a good understanding of the material at hand.
