Despite economic reforms, public health systems in China have experienced difficulty meeting their citizens’ needs. As a gap between rich and poor increases, the World Health Organization (WHO) has played a significant role in supporting the Chinese government in meeting this challenge.
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) provides assistance to enhance health services in developing countries, and is a major supporter of innovative solutions. Thanks to ITU, telemedicine projects have previously been implemented in many countries, including Mozambique, Malta, Nicaragua, Georgia, Myanmar, Senegal, Bhutan, Uganda, and Ukraine. Ongoing projects are currently taking place in Cameroon, Ethiopia, Kenya, Haiti, Rwanda, Venezuela, Sudan, Mauritania, Bulgaria, Zimbabwe, and Guinea.
