This
position began at the end of August of 2005. With only year and a half
experience, a tremendous amount has been learned!
Some accomplishments have been:
- Trained teachers and students on the use of many software
programs.
- Spearheaded initiative for district wide understanding of Assistive Technology.
- Created Brochures for teachers and parents.
- Attended conventions and workshops and brought back valuable information.
- Inventoried new equipment.
- Assessed students’ Assistive Technology needs.
- Contributed to IEP and other meetings.
- Worked to improve relations between the Technical Resource
Trainers and the Assistive Technology Team.
- Encouraged the use and distribution of available
software.
- Produced data sheets with directions for use.
- Provided equipment and software to students and teachers
who need it.
- Organized an Assistive Technology information module.
- Facilitated the use of AT in statewide testing.
- Advertized free and available software to be used as Assistive technology.
- Lobbied for Universal Design in software and optomized software widely available in the district.
- Purchased thousands of dollars of software and equipment.
And
this is just the beginning!
