EDRS 810

Of all the classes in this
PhD program the ones that struck terror to my heart as I anticipated
registration were the research courses. The first of such courses was
EDRS 810. With half a century experience in math phobia and difficulties
with systematic and sequential thinking, I was convinced that research would
be, at best, a definite weakness. However, with the optimistic
encouragement and gentle guidance of the professor, I was able to generate a research
proposal for a single subject research design, with assignments
such as a completed Human Subjects Review Board application form, consent
forms, assent forms, and a method section. A PowerPoint
Presentation was made to the class.
The research questions
were:
1.
Can combination of a word processor, organization software, and word prediction
software facilitate an increase in the quantity of words used in a written
response?
2.
Can combination of a word processor, organization software, and word prediction
software facilitate a decrease in the number of spelling errors in a written
response?
3.
Can the use of word prediction software augment the level of vocabulary
selection used in a written response?
At the end of this class
feelings of confidence had grown a bit.
