Communication / Collaboration

Throughout each activity and at the end of each module, two types of communication are encouraged.

First, teachers are encouraged to talk to other teachers working with this unit. Teaching can be a very solitary activity. Collaboration with other teachers enhances our own instruction by providing an additional point of view regarding instruction. Collaboration involves two or more teachers each providing input and ideas. As with our students, when one person in a group does all or most of the work, others do not enjoy the full benefits of the activity. Be sure to participate fully, and be sure that you both encourage and allow others to collaborate with you.

Second, during each lesson contact your mentor with questions. These contacts will help you get the most out of each lesson. In addition, your mentor can help provide input that will enhance your classroom skills. Contact with your mentor is appropriate anytime you have a question, concern, or something that you want to share. There is a minimum expectation of one contact with the mentor during each module
