Mark Dean is an American inventor and Computer Engineer who helped advance the computer world. He is mainly known for developing the ISA bus (Industry Standard Architecture). An ISA bus was a hardware interface for connecting peripheral devices in computers for IBM compatibles . Mark Dean was also the head of a design team that made a one-gigahertz computer processor chip. As a successful computer engineer and businessman, Mark Dean holds three of nine PC patents because he was one of the co-creators of the International Business Machines (IBM) personal computer that was released in the year 1981. He currently holds over 20 total patents. Mark Dean was also the engineer who developed and invented the color PC monitor. As you can imagine, this was and still is a huge deal in the world. We can watch videos and look at pictures with color in them, basically allowing us to have real life at the hands of our computers and monitors. More about Mark Dean's personal life, he received higher level education from Stanford University, Florida Atlantic University, and the University of Tennessee. He received his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee, his master's from Florida Atlantic University, and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Growing up as a kid, it was very obvious that Mark was smarter than his peers and classmates. When he was in sixth grade, one of his friends asked Mark if he was really black simply because of how smart he was. That friend came to the conclusion that Mark was not black because he was too smart. Growing up around racism, Mark overcame these encounters and became a successful man and contributed a lot towards the progression of computer science.
