Scarecrow Introduction:
I
chose Scarecrow to represent the Introduction part of the project
because in the movie, he tries to get a brain. The scarecrow is all
about thinking, and in the end of the movie, he becomes intelligent
with a diploma. I picked my friend Nick as the photo for the scarecrow
because in a class debate, he just kept shooting out these facts about
globalization. It showed that he knew a lot of information about
globalization. The scarecrow related to Nick's actions at that time.

Tinman Integration:
I chose Tinman to represent the integration part because of what the
oil can does to him in the movie. Tinman was living in society, but he
was not a part of it because he was rusted. In real life, competencies
are living among society, but you cannot put them into action with just
a single competency. The oil can for the tinman allowed him to be mixed
back into society. In real life, using a couple of the nine
competencies at once really make you a part of society. The oil can
represents the mixing of the nine competencies and making something a
part of society after already being in existence. I chose my classmate
Dan's picture because he was a part of my group in NCLC 130 and was a
classmate of mine in NCLC 110. He was an example of how I used the nine
competencies. |
Cowardly Lion Synthesis:
I
chose the Cowardly Lion as the character for the synthesis part of the
project because he is a little bit scared when he rose to a challenge
in the movie. For the project, we chose an assignment that was a little
challenging and linked words of the assignment to further explain the
essay. The Cowardly Lion is scared at first when doing something, but
accomplishes some great things near the end of the task. The Cowardly
Lion was scared climbing up the mountain to save Dorothy, but then he
allowed everyone to hold onto his tail. This shows a little bit of
courage. I chose the photo of my friend Chris because he is scared at
first with doing something, but then in the end, he creates something
amazing. For instance, he joined the break dancing club not thinking he
would get that good. Now he already learned his first few moves, and he
has a lot more confidence in himself. He became courageous just like
the Cowardly Lion.

Dorothy Postscript:
I chose Dorothy as the character to represent me because in the movie The Wizard of Oz, she
learns a lot of lessons. Dorothy is not a know-it-all in the movie, but
she thinks she knows more about the world than she actually does. It is
the same situation with me because I thought I knew a good amount of
what Global History and the Social World is about. Through NCLC 130, I
learned that there is so much for me to learn. Throughout this
semester, I have taken such a journey to realize who and what exactly I
want to be in the future. Dorothy does the same because she goes
through The Land of Oz to discover who she truly is in life and what is
most important to her. That is what the Postscript part of the project
is all about. |
