The
Discovery Survey was a critical experience towards my learning process
because
it questioned my discovery subject and I on my priorities about issues
dealing
with the environment. After filling out the survey, my grandma (My
Discovery
Subject) and I both said that cleaner air should be the most important
issue
that the government should focus on about the environment. This
activity made
me focus on strategic problem-solving as well because all of the
questions were
making me define problems that lead to certain situations in the
environment.
For example, one question asked about if a clean environment would
provide you
with better recreation opportunities. Both my grandma and I answered
that we
somewhat agree with that question. Another question asked if we should
care
about what pollution does to people not about what it does to other
species. Both
my grandma and I responded that we strongly disagree with that
question.
Questions like this example can relate back to our answer about the
“most
important issue” because those questions deal with why it is
important to have
cleaner air. Some ways that we can help get cleaner air is by joining a
campaign for an environmentally-friendly political candidate, or
pushing the
issue of increasing the use of hybrid cars.
