VDOE 2/2/2004

Notes from VDOE video conference Feb. 2:

  1. Prototype to be functional by end of March
  2. We will go to Richmond to do usability testing with TA’s at end of March (usability testing is my phrase).
  3. TA’s had no idea what our project was.
  4. Next TA meeting Feb 23. We can talk with them at that time.
  5. 2004/05 LIP proposal to be submitted electronically.
  6. School districts not happy about amount of work required for only $18,000.
  7. TA asked for examples of good proposal to be put on site to help others write their own proposals. Mike suggested that this is something they can do in the future. (Maybe we can do something with the idea now. Might help to increase traffic to site.)
  8. Mike does not have time to go over 5-10 LIP proposals for us. Will go over a proposal at next meeting. Use one of the scanned proposals.
  9. Mike said that if a proposal does not fit a specific category it would go in the “ALL Disabilities” category.

My observations: The TA’s have no idea what we are doing. They will not be able to offer suggestions until after they see the prototype. They are willing to change the LIP proposal format but that change will follow the development of a LIP website not come before. By building this site, Mike will be able to get buy in from the VDOE. I think he is right in that he has to show them something concrete to react to.
