Main
Project Goal:
1) Provide required guidance for staff to be able to put
content on the T/TAC Online Training section of T/TAC Online. This training
should be presented using the Webshop/Mini-course format.
2) Address and resolve outstanding technical
issues.
Scope and structure for training:
Dr. Behrmann presented his vision for the
staff training to be in Mini-course format, as a series of Webshops starting
with an introductory overview, then followed by Webshops drilling down
on each task within the system.
Example topics could include:
Introduction
Creating and Uploading Video - converting, resolution, text scripts
Creating and Uploading Graphics - converting to correct size, resolution,
text scripts
Using the Resources Template
Accessability Issues
Copyright Considerations
Safeguarding Your Work (backups, troubleshooting)
Using PowerPoint Slides as Graphics - converting, sizing
Transitioning from PowerPoint to T/TAC Online (transitions & builds)
Survey - Evaluation Form - Certificate
New technologies can be incorporated into the training
as long as the training remains anchored in the Mini-Course/Webshop format.
When demonstrating templates, include suggestions on how the different
elements can be used.
Mary's Visit:
Mary will visit the team March 1-2 with the goal of working together to
complete the uploading of a Webshop to T/TAC Online.
Team to arrange for Shuangbao to participate in this meeting.
Team to engage Mary's assistance in recruiting SMEs to help develop content
to be ready before April 20 launch.
Guidelines for Testing:
Need to establish and distribute guidelines for testing on T/TAC Online,
specifically that all test Webshops and Mini-Courses are set to offline
mode when not being used for testing.
Video Size Issue:
Dr. Behrmann will speak with Shuangbao about the video size issue. This
issue needs to be resolved so that staff can upload videos using products
which they have such as QuickTime.
Dr. Behrmann will speak with Shuangbao about adding capabilities for Flash.
This will be in addition to the existing video capabilities, not as a
replacement.
Audio/Graphics Template:
Dr. Behrmann will speak with Shuangbao about adding a template for Audio
and Graphics. This option could reduce video requirements.
Blackboard:
Dr. Behrmann demonstrated his sample Blackboard site and explained his
vision for how this will be incorporated into T/TAC Online.
Webshops and Mini-Courses are free, on-demand trainings.
Courses offered through Blackboard will be scheduled events which will
require registration.
These courses will be announced on the Events page and in the Online Training
section. On the Events page, there will be a link for information and
registration. On the Online Training section, there will be a link to
"Scheduled Courses" which will take viewers to a list of scheduled
courses with links for registration. Once registration has been completed,
the student will receive a id/pw for Blackboard.
These courses will be both fee- and non-fee-based. The constant is that
permission/registration will be required.
Power Point Conversions:
Dr. Behrmann demonstrated the one-graphic template which was designed
to accommodate using Power Point presentations as graphic images.
Accessibility Icons:
Dr. Behrmann agreed that we should work toward accessibility standards
which would enable the site to display the Bobby 508 approval icon. This
is not critical for the April 20 launch. Accessibility issues should be
compiled and communicated to Shuangbao.
Lucinda's Replacement:
Seunghun Ok has been hired to replace Lucinda. He has degrees in both
Special Education and Computer Science. He did most of the programming
for the Literacy Access Online site. (sok@gmu.edu)
