Goals

  • T/TAC staff will feel confident about their ability to develop quality online content in any of a variety of formats
  • Content posted to T/TAC Online Training site will be developed based on best practices for online learning

Strategy - Phase One

  • Implement systematic review of existing workshop and seminar materials to develop baseline characteristics as they relate to best practices of online content delivery
  • Create list of best practices for quality online content delivery
  • Identify areas where changes in existing materials would improve content delivery effectiveness
  • Make recommendations based on these findings
  • Create report summarizing recommendations

Strategy - Phase Two

  • Incorporate findings into support materials for content developers
  • Measure T/TAC staff level of confidence in their ability to create quality online content using a survey

Objectives

  • Identify what aspects of existing content will transfer seamlessly to an online environment and what aspects will benefit from reengineering
  • Provide guidance on best practices for implementing identified changes

Levels of Evaluation

  • The evaluation will focus on Kirkpatrick’s Level One (Response) and Level Two (Learning) evaluation measurements

Measurement Approaches

  • Existing (not yet online) workshop materials will be judged against a checklist of characteristics of effective online content delivery based on Clark & Mayer’s E-Learning and the Science of Instruction and reliable sources

Formality and Informality of Methods and Rationale

  • Phase 1 will be implemented as an expert review using a checklist to evaluate current workshop materials for identified best practices
  • Phase 2 will be implemented as a survey to measure content developers’ reactions to the training materials and their opinions of its value

Societal and Cultural Factors

  • Performance Analysis interviews indicated that an understanding of best practices for online content delivery is a primary concern for T/TAC staff who will be charged with development of the content
  • Staff and existing materials availability has not yet been determined

Desired Results (Information Sought from Evaluation)

  • By identifying characteristics of existing workshop materials as related to best practices of online content delivery prior to development of support materials, T/TAC staff will find the materials relevant and useful
