Status Report

This week we spent time planning and setting priorities for the remainder of the semester. We set 7 priorities:

  • Establishing and implementing 508 Plan
  • Identifying technical and visual errors
  • Application and review of Design and E-Learning Principles
  • Evaluation synthesis and expert panel
  • Presentation preparation and process
  • Road Show: Virginia Tech and Radford (optional)

Cindy presented the compiled usability results report to the group.

Teachers:

  • Liked the site and found it easy to use AFTER they had some time to navigate and explore.
    • Thought tabs were confusing
  • Liked Items in the spotlight
  • Didn't notice links in the colored bar under the tabs
  • Printing a webshop was confusing
  • Category to sub category was counter intuitive

Suggestions:

  • Would like to be able to preview success stories
  • Make links in colored section (under tabs) buttons
  • Add contact regions to the top of the page and resources page
  • Would like to limit the amount of personal information they have to input for Success Stories and Discussion Board
  • Use print icons and reevaluate directions
  • Consider wording on subcategories.

Staff:

  • Webshop metaphor was not used or obvious
  • Confused about the difference between a webshop and a module (didn't use metaphor)
  • Confusion about Alt Tags
  • Some of the webshop directions were unclear

Comments:

  • Easy to use and navigate
  • Clear Purpose
  • Webshops were easy to use and understand
    • Liked the step by step process
    • Liked the many choices

We discussed the design suggestions provided by Michelle, a professional graphic designer. We are going to implement some of the suggestions provided by her and the usability tests.
