Duty 6: Arrive on Section
Learner will demonstrate how to conduct a safe and thorough arrive on section activities. Learner will also explain job duties, why they are conducted, any associated risk, and how to implement appropriate controls. A thorough arrival on section includes the following steps:
- Exit Mantrip (Roof control/General housekeeping)
- Continuously observe roof and rib and slip/trip/fall hazards (eyes on path) (Emergency and Unusual Situations)
- Notify responsible person of arrival at section (Omega symbol is for new regulations)

- Notify RP of any abnormal conditions encountered or dangers/hazards corrected
- Observe section supplies
- Assemble crew in dinner hole (Training Responsibilities)
- Conduct daily safety meeting (Training)
- Address any issues from employees (Training Responsibilities)
- Assign any special duties (Training Responsibilities)
- Talk to prior shift foreman about any changes since call-out (Training Responsibilities)
- Send crew to work locations (Training Responsibilities)
