Accomplishments:

  • Finalized learner survey instrument for the target audience at Hoop Magic
  • Gave the Needs Analysis presentation for EDIT 730 class Monday evening
  • Team created a rubric for evaluating gaming platforms; using this rubric will provided consistency to our evaluations enabling us to better determine suitable platforms for use with the target audience

 

Items Discussed:

  • Team wanted to practice research presentation with each other for feedback; content and structure for presentation was discussed
  • Kevin discussed results of meeting at Chantilly Mews in regards to target audience 
  • Kevin will schedule a tour and observation of a DC school, McKinley, where teens are learning to design games
  • Once our platform (s) selections have been narrowed, we will need to send the specs to Daryl at Hoop Magic
  • Shelton will create a marketing powerpoint to advertise HMSA program on electronic board at the facility
  • Once our target audience survey data has been collected and synthesized, we will need to send the appropriate results to Shelton for his use in developing suitable workshops for the learners.

 

Short Term Action Items:

  • All team members must complete Human Subjects Online Training before survey process can begin
  • Contact Chris Scales, with Fairfax County Community and Recreation Services, to thank him for agreeing to be an SME for our project
  • Team members will conduct target audience survey at Chantilly Mews on Monday, 11/13 and Tuesday, 11/14, using our newly developed learner survey instrument
  • Tuesday, November 14: Team members present their review of assigned learning platforms to the team
  • Team members will practice research presentations by rehearsing for the team on Wednesday afternoon,11/15
  • Thursday, November 16: Team members present results of research to Client (Achievement, Gaming, Implementation Models, Educational Software)
  • Team will develop a Program Coordinator’s survey instrument the week of 11/13

 

Long Term Action Items:

  • Team members will consider revisions to portfolios as suggested by Kevin
  • Prepare presentation of Task Analysis & Objectives to EDIT 730 class on Monday, 11/20
  • Begin drafting design prototype
  • Individual white papers due 12/14
