Entering the Microworld

     It is very important to present the initial interface choices in a direct manner so that the first-time user has a seamless experience when entering the microworld. While cognitive puzzlement is appropriate in the learning environment, when the puzzlement revolves around how to use the software the student becomes distracted from learning and perhaps frustrated. These types of frustrations with access-to-tools have been voiced in two software evaluations which I have performed for real-life computer-based training modules.

     In SculptureQuest, there are two work areas or learning environments. The student will be able to select either Explore or Prototype, or get an overview of the entire program by selecting the Video Assistant.
