Tips for the Evaluator

To Prepare for the Meeting

The General Evaluator should be contacting you to let you know who you will be evaluating.
Contact the speaker sometime before the meeting, or plan to get there a little early to meet up with him/her.
Find out which manual speech they are giving to learn what the speech goals are.
Find out from the speaker if they have any other specific goals of their own

During the Meeting

Be sure to get the speaker's book before the meeting begins.
Review the objectives in the manual before the speaker goes up to give his/her speech.
You may wish to use some paper to make notes during the speech and then complete the manual form after you have given the evaluation
Mark the completion of this speech in the back of the speaker's manual.
When giving your oral evaluation, try to make a clear beginning, middle and end.
Be sure to begin and end on a positive note.
"Sandwich" your comments with a strength and a suggestion.
