The Color Purple

One of the most widely recognized uses of the color purple is its use in royal settings. Going back many centuries, purple has been used in decoration, clothing, and in iconogrpahy of rulers all over the world. Purple gained such significance because of its rarity; the source of the dye was so hard to come by and so difficult to produce that it was only available to the most wealthy individuals.

According to Color Psychology, "purple can have calming effects over the mind and nerves, it can be uplifting and can trigger creativity. So, from these points of view, you can have purple in any room of your house. It is the color of imagination and spirituality" (Color Psychology - Purple).

Purple is also noted as being significant in spiritual/religious settings, being used by Catholic priests during mass as an example.
