Presentation

The map shows the number of Hantavirus cases reported in the continental United States through January 2017. On the map, each state that reported hantavirus cases is labeled with its two-letter state abbreviation, and the number of cases reported appears in parenthese below the state abbreviation. These states are shaded one of three colors, depending on the number of cases reported. States that reported 0 to 15 cases are shaded light tan. States that reported 16 to 50 cases are shaded orange. States that reported more than cases are shaded red. The shading reveals a pattern of cases. All of the states labeled on the eastern or right-side half of the map are shaded light tan. On the western or left-side half of the map, the majority of states are shaded orange or red. The map shows data for 32 of the 50 continental states. For 18 states, there is no data; these states are mostly in the South and Northeast.
