Propaganda Out of Context asks what can we learn if we think of propaganda as art. This website is a project that interprets one piece of propaganda, a poster created by Hungarian artist Mihály Biró, which appears below on the left, by comparing it with the images on its right that are considered to be works of art in the Expressionist style dating back to the early 20th century. Click on the poster to learn more about it in a section of this website called The Red Man. Click on the works of art on the right for interactive comparisons with Biró's poster. To read all of this project's commentary about propaganda and art, click on the Analysis and Interpretation link in the menu above.
