COURSE
DESCRIPTION:
Introduces tools to configure graphical user interfaces
(GUIs), multimedia authoring systems, graphical and multimedia components, and
data types and provide web design principles.
COURSE
DETAILS:
Through lecture, class demonstration, class discussion and
hands-on lab experience students are introduced to
Multimedia and Web Computer Graphics. This course will focus on the
development of web-enabled multimedia products from a practical business
perspective. Technological, aesthetic and human factors will be introduced and discussed. Students will receive
hands-on training experience in the use of Macromedia Fireworks, Dreamweaver and Flash. Students successfully
completing this course will have a good understanding of how a multimedia
product is created from both the business perspective
and hands-on design and engineering perspectives.
GRADING
POLICY:
Project (40%), Lab Exercises (15%), Lab
Midterm Exam (5%), Lab Final Exam (5%), Lecture Midterm (15%), and Lecture Final
Exam (20%).
Project includes:
Paper (5%),
Storyboards (10%),
Logo (5%),
Web-enabled Multimedia Site (15%),
Flash Project - Multimedia Commercial
(5%).
Extra Credit - Students can add up to 2% in their final
grades by taking pop quizzes in lab and lecture. Pop quizzes in lab (1%) and pop
quizzes in lecture (1%).
The scores may be curved at the
instructor discretion at the end of the term. The "A"
student attends
all classes and completes all units. All deliverables will be delivered on the due date.
Students who anticipate absences are discouraged
from taking the class. No make-ups for exams for any
reason. Lab work needs to be completed as
directed. Contact the instructor in advance if
you have a serious problem that prevents you from meeting course requirements.
