I am a Professor at the Department of Systems Engineering & Operations Research (SEOR) at George Mason University, Fairfax, VA, USA. I am also an affiliate faculty member of the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Statistics at George Mason University. I am currently leading a project that studies bus fleet electrification in collaboration with school districts, transit agencies, OEM, electric utilities, local municipalities, and national labs. I am leading another project investigating the strengthening of the Amercian electricity infrastructure for large-scale EV adoption. I am also collaborating with researchers from George Washington University a project to explore human digital twin of neurophysiological modeling and uncertainty quantification. I am recruiting motivated Ph.D. students with strong background in operations research, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or engineering. If you have applied to the SEOR PhD program and are interested in my research, you may contact me with your resume and transcripts. My research focuses on algorithmic research in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning, digital twin/computer simulation, data science/data analytics, stochastic optimization, and risk management. Of specific interests are digital twin simulation-based optimization, Bayesian optimization, Monte Carlo tree search, optimal learning, and reinforcement learning. My applications research focuses on cloud computing, electric vehicle grid integration, health care, power systems, semiconductor manufacturing, and transportation, with a focus on resource allocation, system resilience, and testing. My research has been sponsored by the National Science Foundation, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Department of Energy, UChicago Argonne LLC, Jeffress Trust Awards Program in Interdisciplinary Research, Oak Ridge Associated Universities, 4-VA, and Office of Naval Research. I was the President of INFORMS Simulation Society from July 2022 to June 2024. I am currently serving as Associate Editor of IISE Transactions, ACM Transactions on Modeling and Computer Simulation, Journal of Simulation, and Asia-Pacific Journal of Operational Research.
