Baltimore has been a breeding ground in the development of my
perceptions and views of citizenship. The city provides an excellent place by
which direct service, philanthropic giving, capacity building, and various
other aspects of civic engagement can be accomplished. The first path represents
those who see the injustice and inequality and are uncertain, indecisive or
apathetic towards change. The second path are those who are using everything
they have to survive and make the various communities of Baltimore a better place to live in. Growing
up with Baltimore
as my backyard has given me a micro-domestic view of the macro-global
inequalities that prevail throughout the world today. I do not know how exactly
to go about instituting change just yet but I am learning little by little. In simplest
form, Baltimore
has taught me that citizenship in all its various forms is carried out through
unrelenting resolving, and perseverance to make the hope of change
a reality throughout the national and international community.
