About AMBER Project

Amber child protection system

Commercially it is possible to track shipments of merchandise via RF tags which identify their global location using GPS recognition. This information can then be sent to a host of waiting queries. In contrast the Amber system which serves to protect our children relies on word of mouth and radio broadcast of information which in some cases are hours old. This system has no unique way of identifying each child or tracking the movement of known abductees. This project seeks to address the need for an electronic device which would provide each child with a personal identification tag to aid in their location and retrieval if it became necessary. The identification tag would consist of encoded digital finger-print embedded on a circuit board with a microprocessor capable of two-way communications through either GPS or RF systems. In addition to global position tracking the system would provide additional data such as temperature, altitude, and speed direction.
