Some Additional Corrections for Hastie, Tibshirani, and Friedman (2nd Edition)
The
web site maintained by the authors shows some corrections to
mistakes (some
of which we've spotted, and some which we didn't).
I'm only going to put ones here which haven't been reported on the
authors' web site (although since I'll inform them of what I find, these
may show up there as well).
- p. 7, lines 2-3 of How this Book is Organized
- It should be supervised instead of supervising.
- p. 122, 8 lines from bottom
- Perhaps a small matter, but usually the null hypothesis does not stipulate that
"all of the others are not" equal to 0. Typically the null hypothesis doesn't
make any claim with regard to the other coefficients.
