Sarah Johnson awarded 2007 Cosmos Club Award

A special award for the best proposal on the subject of the environment, the Max and Vera Britton Award, named in honor of Maxwell Britton (CC: 1970-2004) and his wife Vera, was given to Sarah Johnson of George Mason University. Her dissertation, to be completed in 2009, is entitled “Population Genetics of the Native Rodents of the Galápagos Islands.” Ms. Johnson hopes that knowledge of the genetic diversity of the native rodent population will help guide selective breeding programs to preserve the four remaining native rodent species in the Galápagos.
