    OBJECTIVES AND GOALS OF THE COURSE:  The primary goal of this course is to give an overview of conservation biology with current ideas on the state of problems and potential solutions to the worldwide loss of biodiversity.  Students successfully completing this course should have a broad understanding of conservation biology and an appreciation for the complexity of issues dealing with preservation of biodiversity.

    OBJECTIVES AND GOALS OF THE COURSE:  This course has been designed to give an overview of the biological subdiscipline of mammalogy.  Students will be introduced to the diversity of mammals of the world, their distribution, and general natural history.  The evolutionary relationships and origins for the class Mammalia will be covered.  Students will have the opportunity to participate in field activities and will learn a selection of mammals of Virginia to the species level and mammals of the world to family and order.
