I learned a lot from my trip to the
National Gallery of Art. It allowed me to have a better understanding on the
whole museum concept. Not only did I learn about the museum, but it allowed me
to understand the competencies: effective citizen, valuing, global perspective,
and aesthetic response. For one to demonstrate effective citizenship, they must
behave like an adult in a museum situation. When I went to the National Gallery
of Art I knew the proper way to act. Also, following all of the rules and
respecting others is another way to demonstrate effective citizenship. At the National
Gallery there was not only one type of artwork, throughout the rooms there were
a variety of pieces that stood out. I was able to value each one of them by
spending time and analyzing the artwork. Valuing is not only to stare at a
piece of artwork, but to give respect to the time put into it and the quality
of the work. Global perspective was in many of the rooms of the National
Gallery. To have global perspective one needs to give respect to diversity and
differences. For me global perspective is to look at the different artworks and
respect them for all of their differences they had. Aesthetic response was the
most important competency for me especially at the National Gallery. Whenever
attending any museum a person needs to have respect for an artwork, even if
they are not inspired or moved by it. Aesthetic response taught me to realize
all the variety of artworks placed throughout the National Gallery of Art. |
