Web Resources for Literary Studies: Content-Rich Websites
This is a selective listing of what I consider to be high-quality web resources for literary studies students. It is limited to material that is freely available to all users. My aim, in this section, has been to select—and keep current—a list of websites that are worthwhile destinations in themselves, not websites that direct you to still other websites that may have migrated or disappeared and that may or may not contain rich content. I welcome, of course, additional suggestions and reports of dead links (Contact me). URLs were correct as of the date cited (in month/year format) with each item. |

Listed first are some general reference works available online, and websites that contain rich, but miscellaneous, content. : |
Next, I’ve listed content-rich websites in several broad areas of literary studies—beginning with English-language dominated literatures and cultures. (I have tended to list websites that address both British and American literature in the British category; I have included Caribbean literatures in this sequence of English-language dominated literatures even though only some branches of Caribbean literature fit this description): |
Australian & New Zealand Literature and Culture (Go) |
British & Irish Literature and Culture (Go) |
Canadian Literature and Culture (Go) |
Caribbean Literature and Culture (Go) |
U.S. Literature and Culture (Go) |
Other English-Language Literatures & General Anglophone Literary Culture (Go) |
|
Next, I list some websites for general European literature (including, for instance, the literature of Graeco-Roman antiquity) and for particular literatures of the European world: the listings in this section are quite spotty: they are simply some sites of interest that I happen to have come upon: |
|
European Literature and Culture (Go) |
|
Next, I list websites addressing World Literature (in general) and literatures of other regions of the world, beyond Europe and the English-speaking world. (The sites in the general World Literature section also often contain material or entire subsections devoted to some of the more particular geocultural regions listed below and should be consulted by anyone interested in a more particular region): |
|
World Literature and Culture (Go) |
East Asian & Southeast Asian Literature and Culture (Go) |
South Asian Literature and Culture (Go) |
North African & Middle Eastern Literature and Culture (Go) |
Sub-Saharan African Literature and Culture (Go) |
Latin American Literature and Culture (Go) |
Other Particular Literatures and Cultures of the World (Go) |
