Courtney Crumrin

Enter the world of Courtney Crumrin where the concept of being afraid of the dark doesn't exist.
Courtney Crumin and her parents, who she kindly refers to as dumb asses, move in with her eccentric uncle. At first Courtney is not pleased to have been moved from the place she grew up. That is until Courtney discovers that her uncle is a warlock and begins to study witchcraft.
Ted Naifeh, the author and writer, has made it a point not to make Courtney good or evil. While Courtney is capable of horrible things, she is also just trying to get through junior high.  While many comic books lack a great plot and writing to go with the pictures, this comic truly delivers.
The artwork showcased in this series is amazing. Naifeh puts a lot of effort into the pages, leaving nothing out.  With complicated backgrounds and characters, the pictures themselves could stand alone and tell the story.

For example in this picture of Uncle
Aloysius, the details showcase his personality as a serious older man with a peculiar hobby.

As well as this one of Courtney's which shows her as a somewhat skeptical person, who may act fearless at times is still just a girl.
