Virtualization Background
In response to the overwhelming necessity to improve the wasteful nature of servers, companies like Citrix and VMware are revolutionizing current methods of data storage through virtualization. Recognizing the opportunity for improvement early on, these companies set out with two goals in mind: reduce the necessity to maintain so many servers, and improve a server’s resource management. Pursuit of these goals has led to dramatic economic and environmental results; VMware’s servers have proven to be the next major milestone in IT development (VMware 2010).
