Vocabulary in an interactive text relates to two things. One, the vocabulary that the author uses and the other is the vocabulary that the player uses.
“You take a deep breath of salty air as the first raindrops begin to spatter the pavement, and the swollen, slate-colored clouds that blanket the sky mutter ominous portents amongst themselves over the little coastal town of Anchorhead.”
Reading one of the reviews, the reviewer, Duncan Stevens said that, "the atmosphere is skillful, particularly in the early scenes: the author conveys a feeling of general gloom and decay without crossing the line into horror prematurely, and without laying on the foreboding and unease stuff too thickly." This reviewer and I both agree that the vocabulary and word structure used in this interactive text are well done and not overdone as can happen in interactive text.
The vocabulary that the user can use is very similar to Colossal Cave, but one thing I found interesting is that I could yell or scream, which to me makes sense if this text is a horror text. The responses I got after typing in an incorrect command seemed to lead me on to what type of vocabulary I was supposed to use, which was useful.
