The Preamble
The preamble of the Declaration is straight forward
and understandable in all languages. It speaks of countries recognizing that
families, people, and cultures are to be respected by all forms of government.
But the checking point is in the sixth paragraph it speaks of the “co-operation
with the United Nations, the promotion of universal
respect for and observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms.” This
phrase allows the U.N. to monitor the treatment of other people in other
countries, and allows them to have influence in those matters, whether it is
diplomacy or military.
The
last stanza of the preamble emphasizes the importance of the document. Stating, “Whereas a common understanding of these rights and
freedoms is of the greatest importance for the full realization of this
pledge.” Once again the U.N. tries to help the world understand that the
right later explained are allowed to everyone.
When
reading this Declaration there are many similarities in this Declaration and
the Constitution
of the United States.
