Photographs
Rather than e-mail photographs to everybody, I post new and exciting photographs on this site regularly. Feel free to e-mail me with comments or suggestions. Last updated on October 10, 2009. We don't have any trips planned, apart from family visits.
I have been riding my bike to the Metro rather than driving since April, which saves me $4.50 a day in parking and takes no more time than driving. My old bike, a lurid purple GT hybrid I bought used for $100 12 years ago, had mismatched worn tires, a filthy drivetrain, and crummy pedals. Plus, it was very heavy. I resolved to buy a new bike, my first new bike since the black 10-speed Peugeot my dad bought for me from a bike shop in Slough, England, when I was 8 or 9. After a little research I bought a new Trek 7.2 hybrid (above) from Spokes, Etc., a shop in Vienna. I was very impressed with my sales person, who was not a jerky bike enthusiast. I rode it back that day, about 7 miles, in a light drizzle. It is very light and smooth running, and has full fenders for keeping clean in the wet. I donated my old bike to the thrift store down the street that supports a womens' shelter.
