How is Technology Helping?
There are several tests that aid in the treatment of
epilepsy. - An electroencephalography (EEG) machine is commonly used for
epileptics. "Electroencephalography may be used to confirm a diagnosis of epilepsy, differentiate
the type of epilepsy, locate the focus of activity, determine the presence of trigger factors, and
monitor seizures" (66 Black).
- "A Computerized axial tomography (CAT) determines if there is
a
lesion or tumor" (72 Hopkins).
- Blood tests are regularly taken in order to make sure that a
patient is at a therapeutic drug level (to make sure that there is enough medicine in a patient's
bloodstream).
These test aid doctors to determine proper treatments to help a person keep
their
epilepsy under control.
