What The Future Holds

As the world grows in all of its aspects, there is always
hope for a better treatment. "More recently through biochemical and neurological research, a number
of chemicals have been identified which appear to have a crucial role in epilepsy"(147
Hopkins). Some of these chemicals stop the seizures, and "one new drug, vigabatrin, has been
developed to increase the concentration of this substance within the brain, and so prevent seizures
from happening"(147hopkins). There are many other drugs being tested to hopefully lead to a cure
for all epileptics. The future holds safer medicines with fewer side effects. Also, technology is
advancing, therefore there will be greater advances in surgery for those with severe cases of
epilepsy. As the years pass, hopefully people will become more aware of epilepsy.
