- Suggestions for implementing blogs (Ferdig and Trammell).
- Consider starting your own blog
- Spend time visiting other classroom blogs (Google and SchoolBlogs are good resources for this)
- Model blogging for your students
- Make the blogs more public (if you are comfortable with this idea in your classroom and school environment)
- Make sure your students know the scope and reach of their blogs (never record in writing what you might not want anyone to know)
- Visit various blogging sites (listed on the links page) and determine which service appeals to you and what type of blog you would like to create (public or private)
- Obtain permission from the Administration of your school and the parents of your students.
- Provide concrete directions for your students, modeling the steps necessary to create a blog account.
- Blog project ideas (see Barclay Barrios' site for more on this - the following are his suggestions)
- Journal Blogs - replace classroom journaling with online journaling.
- Collaborative Blogs - have small groups post details of their progress and findings.
- Research Blogs - this works well during the development of a research paper or science project.
- Class Blogs - create a class homepage that allows student interaction.
