Help
The purpose of this site is to help parents teach themselves, and teach their kids, about the world of finance. Our site is divided up into five main topic sections.
- Money Management - Learn about responsibly using money, budgeting, spending, and saving.
- Credit & Debt - Learn about borrowing money, loan safety, protecting your identity, and your credit report.
- Paying for College - Learn about loans, grants, scholarships, and savings vehicles for college.
- Investing - Learn about planning and managing your investments, and the effect of our current economy on investing.
- Economics - Learn about the market, national, and international economy.
Since this is a prototype site, content has only been developed for the "Money Management" section of the site. The other sections only hold filler text that does not lead to actual content.
In the Money Management section (and in future sections of the site), articles are divided into two categories - "Teach Yourself" and "Teach Your Kids". The "Teach Yourself" articles are designed to help parents understand concepts that are new and/or unfamiliar to them. The "Teach Your Kids" builds on the knowledge from "Teach Yourself" to help you teach your kids what you have learned. There is a third section on each page called "Fun Stuff". These are links to activities and games on other sites related to each topic that may be of interest to you and your kids.
Future Features of Agora Financial for Families
You may have noticed a "Login" and "Profile" link on top of the Search toolbar, on the upper right hand corner of the screen. This future feature will allow you to save articles and resources you like to a personalized lesson plan that you can quickly access. Say, for example, you find an interesting article on teenagers and spending, but your kids have only just started middle school. You can save this article for later use, when it becomes appropriate for your kids.
