Eldis, the Gateway to Development Information http://www.eldis.org/ ELDIS is a very extensive site that provides descriptions of and links to a variety of information sources, including online documents, organizations and their websites, databases, library catalogs, bibliographies, email discussion lists, research project information, map and newspaper collections, and job listings. Land tenure is a highlighted issue. FAO Legal Office http://www.fao.org/Legal/default.htm This site includes FAOLEX, a searchable database of treaties, laws and regulations on food, agriculture and renewable natural resources world-wide, including land legislation. The site also includes some legal papers on line, and citations for other FAO legal studies available for purchase.  International Association for the Study of Common Property http://www.indiana.edu/~iascp/ "Virtual Library of Common Pool Resources" includes on-line articles, abstracts and papers from IASCP conferences, and searchable bibliographies. The site also provides information about upcoming conferences and other information about the organization International Development Research Centre: Conflict over Natural Resources http://www.idrc.ca/CONFLICT/ The site explores the socioeconomic, cultural, and political factors that contribute to conflict over natural resources. It also includes information about specific projects supported by IDRC in this area, publications written on the subject, and links to related sites  International Land Coalition ((formerly Popular Coalition to Eradicate Hunger and Poverty) http://www.landcoalition.org The International Land Coalition is a global alliance of intergovernmental, governmental and civil-society organizations. The Coalition works together with the rural poor to increase their secure access to natural resources, especially land, and to enable them to participate directly in policy and decision-making processes that affect their livelihoods at local, national, regional and international levels.  Land Policy Network http://www.worldbank.org/landpolicy This World Bank site focuses on policy related to land tenure, land access, land titling, and administration. This site contains information for researchers, policy-makers, and practitioners, and includes many full text documents. Land Rights in Africa http://www.oxfam.org.uk/landrights/ Maintained by Oxfam GB, this site includes a resource bank of papers about land tenure issues in Africa, as well as links to othere relevant internet resources. LandNet Americas http://www.landnetamericas.org/ The focus of this website is property registration in Latin America. It includes a bulletin board, document database, project database, discussion forum, calendar of events, and links to other websites.  Lincoln Institute of Land Policy http://www.lincolninst.edu/main.html The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy focuses on land use and land taxation in the US and abroad. Site includes newsletter and full text of some other publications, as well as information about Institute activities and publications available for purchase.  Participatory Avenues: Integrated Approaches to Participatory Development http://www.iapad.org/ "Participatory Avenues aims at sharing significant progress in visualizing people's spatial knowledge (cognitive maps) and in providing communities added stake in tailoring and owning conservation and development initiatives." Programme for Land and Agrarian Studies http://www.uwc.ac.za/plaas/ This program at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa, fosters critical scholarship on land and agrarian issues and seeks to support processes of social, political and economic transformation within South and Southern Africa. Most of its many publications are available for purchase, not in electronic format. PLAAS is also a co-sponsor of the Pan-African Programme on Land and Resource Rights, which makes available papers from the several conferences it has organized. Rural Development Institute http://www.rdiland.org/ RDI is a nonprofit organization of attorneys helping the rural poor in developing countries obtain legal rights to land. RDI attorneys are experts in land law and policy who work with governments of developing countries, foreign aid agencies, and other partners to reform land law and consult on land policy. Many of its publications are available on line. The site includes several on-line publications. World Census of Agriculture http://www.fao.org/WAICENT/FAOINFO/ECONOMIC/ESS/census/wcahome.htm This FAO site provides summarized statistical information on land use, size and number of holdings, and, where available, tenure status for 60 countries based on the 1990 World Census of Agriculture. Explanatory notes include a citation for the data source, which can provide more detailed information.
