Web Site Interface Evaluation: 1800FLOWERS.COM
EDIT 773, Human-Computer Interface, Spring 2002

Purpose
To combine the consumer search, selection, and ordering decision into a single, seamless one-click process. It steps the consumer through a series of forms that pre-populate the final order form.

Best qualities

  • The consumer has in a single view a graphic representation of the products, the price, and the BUY NOW button
  • Order form pre-populates as you select your preferences along the way
  • Use of buttons reduces keystroke errors
  • The screen style and layout is clear, logical, with intuitive labels/names for products and processes
  • The text is brief and clearly describes each product/function
  • The colors are soft and easy on (aging) eyes
  • Menus are relatively short
  • Navigation is intuitive, toolbar is consistent so you can always find your way back to each product category Home page and the site Home page
  • Icons represent what they actually do

Worst qualities

  • Font size is small
  • Wasted white space – could have been used to enlarge the fonts
  • You cannot save your info and complete the order later. If you terminate the info you’ve input is lost
