Questions that Might Be Targeted
Based on the literature I've reviewed thus far as well as the level of
activity in the software industry, in which I am employed, my research
questions include the following:
- How many institutions of higher education in the United States have seen or heard any information about Open Source Software?
- What are the characteristics that institutions believe differentiate Open Source Software from commercially-developed software?
- In the next 12 months, how likely are institutions of higher education in the United States to adopt Open Source Software for teaching and learning?
- How many institutions of higher education are planning to integrate Open Source Software used for teaching and learning with the institution's Student Information System?
- What approaches are institutions using to integrate Open Source Software with their enterprise-wide information systems?
- When presented with a concept for on-shore outsourcing of the integration and maintenance of enterprise-wide Open Source software systems, how interested would institutions be in purchasing this service and at what price range(s)?
