OVERVIEW

This site contains assignments from my English 410: Technical Writing course that I completed during my Fall 2004 semester.  It was taught by Professor Jim Henry, and is a writing- and computer-intensive course utilizing writing skills, editing skills, and grammar skills; as well as computer skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint, web design, HTML skills, E-mail, and Townhall.  The organization of this course includes use for prospective employers and colleagues.  Examples of my work from this class include a technical document analysis, a set of instructions and procedures, a Memo on Performance as a Document Reviewer, in which I used the six-step reading techniques taught in this class, a proposal for the final project, a project report for the final project, the final project, a group evaluation for the final project, and a reflective writing.  These examples of work completed for English 410 are placed on the main website page for this course as links to the documents.

In addition to being a writing- and computer-intensive, this course required much time and dedication to assignments and projects.  As the term progressed, elements that we learned in prior assignments began to merge into documents required for an assignment.  For instance, it is essential to use document design, which includes clipart, white space, and proper font usage in the document.  These text attributes must be taken into consideration when preparing a document for an organization or business in Technicnal Writing.  This course also shows how to apply the proper editing and reading methods a document requires when using the six-step editing techniques outlines given in the course, and shows how to redesign and reword the documents.
