FTP Practice

1. Here is a Word document you can use for practice. Download and save the Word document to your computer Desktop. (This is more practice for downloading and saving a file from the internet without double-clicking and opening it in its associated application.)

2. Open and log in to your SSH ftp program. Upload the Word file using the Binary file format.

3. Download the Word file to the PC Desktop using the ASCII file format (thus overwriting the original file). Double-click the file to open it in Word. What happened to the file?

4. Create a text file using Pico (see later section) in your Mason account. Download it to the Desktop using the ASCII file format. Double-click the file to open it in Notepad. Close the file.

5. Download the same file again, this time using the Binary file format. Double-click to open the file. What happens?
