Using the Internet When Doing Research Using the Internet When Doing Research

The internet provides so much information at a fast rate when doing research. When doing research, in order to accomplish thorough and reliable information some of the things you must take into account are the author of the page (site), his/her credentials, and the year of publication. By taking these things into account you can see if the author is qualified to be writing on a certain topic and whether he/she knows his/her facts. You must also distinguish between fact and opinion of authors when doing research. Many good writers can make you think their opinions are fact, when in reality it is just the interpretation of the author.

I will use the internet to help find information about my topics and besides taking into account the author, credentials, and the year of publication, I will also make sure that the author’s main points in the text are understandable and makes sense. Another thing I will do is find different sites, so that I can get a variety of viewpoints (opinions) and compare information in these sites to see what is said to be factual to make sure the information is accurate.
