Is it Good or Bad?

Globalization

Globalization is the expansion and improvement of technology, communication, business, society, etc. and its effect on the world. The movement towards a global society can be perceived as both negative and positive. Some people feel that globalization brings about the loss of the uniqueness of their own society or culture because we are all starting to dress, think, and eat alike. This, however, could be considered to be a positive aspect to globalization because it could lead us to becoming a unified human race and a unified race that shares common goals and ideals is less likely to try to go to war to kill each other.

In terms of global communication, I think it can be subjective. For example international news on various global issues can be interpreted differently by the various cultures and these disparities can lead to anger and possible violence. An educated society, though, can use the information to gain a better understanding of other cultures and their viewpoint and use the information to prevent any escalations in hostilities.

Finally, in terms of economics, globalization can help raise the standard of living for all countries in time. While the immediate reaction may be anger as jobs in one country are lost to cheaper labor in other countries, over time, the effect will be a better life for the majority of the people of the world.
