In addition to her degrees from George Mason University and the University of Maryland, Susan McDonald Jampoler has substantial graduate level coursework in Business at the University of North Florida and San Jose State University.

Ms Jampoler was the Executive Director of the University Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS) as well as Executive Director for Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI). UCGIS is comprised of major universities interested in GIScience research and education. GSDI's focus is on international geospatial data standards development and implementation. She also founded GeoKnowledge, Inc., an educational services company specializing in technical geographic education. She is familiar with a wide variety of GIS software packages and has taught many GIS courses.

Ms Jampoler has professional experience in:  1) design and implementation of automated quality assurance procedures for large digital spatial databases; 2) management of GIS laboratories; 3) integration and presentation of spatial data in functional easy-to-use formats; 4) evaluation of geographic information systems, computer mapping and map publishing software, and GIS markets; 5) coordination of GIS implementation and training;  and, 6) integration of remote sensing and GIS technologies to model change.
