Computer & Videogame Piracy:
Why did I choose this topic?
The primary reason I selected this topic is because videogame piracy interests me. I have enjoyed playing video and computer games for many years dating back to the mid-1980s when my family got our first computer (an XT); I also had an Atari 7800 videogame system. Since this topic interests me, I thought researching issues related to video and computer games would be stimulating. Specifically, I wanted to learn about how videogame piracy is defined, how pervasive piracy is, how violators are punished, and what steps are being taken to control piracy. I find that it is quite fitting that I am using the Internet to research a subject that proliferates on the Internet because--as I’m sure you’re already aware--the Internet is a major outlet and source of videogame piracy. With a few clicks of the mouse button, one can download an entire game.
To demonstrate how easy it is to download a game, click the underlined text to go to a new page and begin downloading “Spiderman” for the Sony Playstation game as a CD image. The image can then be burned directly onto a CD-R.
Please note that when I refer to videogame piracy on my website, unless specifically mentioned, I am referring to both the piracy of computer games such as those found on PCs and Macs, as well as those played on console systems, such as the Sony Playstation, Sega Dreamcast, etc.
Without further ado, I hope you find my webpage to be enlightening and enjoyable or at least semi-coherent and relatively painfree. Click on the underlined sentence to go to the next page…What is piracy?
Here's an image of my disembodied head that I scanned.
